Sudbury RASC June Meeting | June 11th

We have a great meeting lined up for you for June 11th, with two presenters jointly presenting. Plus being the last meeting before September, there will be pizza! Special note that while we normally have our meetings at the Science North Planetarium, this month we are holding it at the Doran Planetarium. Sudbury RASC May Meeting | May 14th

“Tonight’s meeting will begin at 7:00pm at Science North. For those attending in person, you may show up anytime after 6:30pm and convene in the marshalling area (coffee room).  Please be seated in the planetarium prior to 7:00pm. 
For those who wish to present in the “Show & Tell” segment of the meeting please give me a heads up prior to the meeting so that we can load your files and schedule you in. 
As always, parking isn’t an issue, simply go through the gate with your ticket and it will be looked after.

March Meeting Eclipse Special | March 12th

This month’s meeting will be focused on the Eclipse and how to prepare for it.

“Our meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) evening will begin at 7:15pm to allow time to prepare due to a previously scheduled planetarium showing that will end at 6:45pm.  For those attending in person, please arrive anytime after 6:45pm.

This month’s agenda will focus on the April 8 Solar Eclipse. Come learn all about it from experienced experts!

No February Meeting

There will be no scheduled meeting this following Tuesday (Feb 13th), at either the Doran Planetarium, or the Science North Planetarium.

Our normally scheduled February AGM meeting will be moved to November better align with National RASC Office deadlines for reporting purposes.

We will commence with our regular monthly meetings on Tuesday, March 12 @ Science North.

Sudbury RASC January Meeting | Jan 23rd

 

The Following Meeting had been cancelled and has been rescheduled for Tuesday January 23rd. This meeting also has a change in location from the Doran Planetarium to the Science North Planetarium. Hope to see you there!

Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you’ve had a great holiday!  We start off the New Year with a presentation about Galileo by RASC’s very own Randall Rosenfeld. After  a 15 min break and 50/50 Draw, we will return with a tour of the night sky for January/February via the Planetarium featuring Stargazer Steve, followed by Jeffery Deans sharing his experience of being in Utah for the Oct 14th Annular Eclipse. For those attending in person, the meeting is at the Doran Planetarium Science North Planetarium this month!

Solar System Guided Walk – Nov 9th

Did you know that Sudbury has its own to-scale Solar System path? Located along the Jim Gordon Boardwalk, you can take a walk from the Sun to its eight planets.

Join Sudbury RASC’s own Norm Hey on a guided walk along the solar system on November 9th, at around 11:00 AM. Those interested in this activity are asked to meet up in the main entrance at Science North at the appointed time.

October 2023 Meeting | October 10

 

Happy Thanksgiving everyone,

Tomorrow’s meeting theme will be “The Sudbury Connection” as we will feature a couple of documentaries emphasizing Sudbury.
We have a packed agenda but we’ll try to squeeze in what we can.  Stargazer Steve’s “What’s Up Doc” will be full of objects to see this month.
The 50/50 draw is back and we also got goodies to give away but you will need to attend in person to win them at Science North’s Digital Planetarium.

PARKING
For those attending in person at Science North please be advised that you will be able to park in the front parking lot. Even though the gate might be down, Science North will validate everyone’s parking ticket (they have a machine at the front desk that validates tickets to not have to pay). People will just need to bring in the ticket they get at the parking’s entrance gate.

Stars Over Killarney 2023

Stars Over Killarney is on for 2023. The theme, the colours in the cosmos. From October 13th to 15th, experience a number of talks and events relating to our universe, then come view the stars with us  (if clear).
