Solar System Path Unveiled

On Tuesday June 21st, National Indigenous People’s Day,  a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the unveiling of Sudbury’s Solar System Path, a joint effort by Science North, Sudbury RASC and the City of Greater Sudbury.

The Sun, the first of many to be featured along the Jim Gordon Boardwalk representing the Solar System to scale featuring a tri-language (English, French and Anishnaabe) information plaque, was revealed. The hope is to have it fully installed by the end of July.

May Zoom Meeting | May 6th 2022 + Linda Pulliah Dedication

It is with deep sorrow to share with you the news of the recent passing of Linda Pulliah (RASC Sudbury – Outreach Coordinator) & (North Bay Astronomy Club – Director). Linda passed away on Saturday. She gained the respect of so many of us in the astronomical community who have had the privilege of knowing her. Along with creating many friendships in her world of astronomy, she also was a RASC National Award winning recipient in the role of Astronomy Outreach which she prolifically demonstrated in sharing her passion to various community groups about astronomy over so many years. Her unique personal approach to educating the public about astronomy has resulted in introducing astronomy to virtually thousands of individuals of all walks of life and ages. What Telescope Should I get?

Most of us have been asked this question. The answer is not as straightforward as it might seem. Beginners, and even advanced amateurs in our hobby, are faced with a wonderful but sometimes dizzying array of telescopes from which to choose. In this presentation, we’ll attempt to separate the wheat from the chaff and understand better the choices that are available to us. And we’ll look at some of the other gear that, alongside a great telescope, can enrich our enjoyment of getting to know the night sky.
